Description

I think the model is something like
Super S23 Double Bass Trombone
or S-23 Super Bass Trombone with F and E attachment, as seen in the 1970s catalog here:
http://www.itsabear.com/Olds_Docs/Olds1970.pdf
Serial Number 238739 (slide and bell match).
Built in Fullerton, Calif
I think this dates the trombone to the mid 1950’s, per
https://www.adams-music.com/en/repair_and_maintenance/serial_numbers/olds
Case included. Will ship in a cardboard box and in the case.
The case is structurally sound and the latches, hinges, and handle work. Lots of rips and tears in the vinyl(?) cover.
Two mouthpieces included:
Bach 1 1/2 G in similar condition to the horn – used but good
and a corroded King 29
Good condition overall, very good for its age. Everything functions fine.
Overall look is old — not beat up.
Most of the finish is good but not pristine. Several warn spots, including down one side of the slide.
Lots of small scratches and dings. Worst ding is in top middle of bell tube (show in pictures). No dents that affect function. Again, does not look beat up.
Slide is good.
Both valves need new springs. They operate well.
I’ve had it since roughly 1989. It was used for 2-3 years and has been in the case in a closet since.
