This listing is for a really interesting piece of folk art, by known artist Ubiracy Da Silva out of Henderson, NY. We were fortunate enough to purchase a few of his folk art pieces and will be listing them, so please be sure to look at my other items by this artist.
This piece is one of the best examples of Ubiracy’s works I have seen. This is a large axe and beautiful folk art hand carved handle. Ubiracy says that the blade is authentic, he believes it to be from the 1700s. There are no markings on the blade, so I cannot confirm that. The handle is hand carved by Ubiracy and signed/dated. The handle features a snake with teeth and glass eyes scrolled along the handle with a skull towards the end (also glass eyes). The detail is phenomenal, it’s a really beautiful piece. In total length the piece measures 35 inches long. The blade is 7.5 inches tall by 11.25 inches long! Fantastic piece of folk art and a great conversation piece!
